I'm praying I can get to the horses tomorrow morning, when Lori and I went out to feed tonight the roads were already starting to get really bad. Ahhh lovely Michigan weather!! DAY 12......SATURDAY

This is lake Cross Creek
I couldn't believe how much the water had gone done in one day~

Today was a good day.... Went out and did stalls after soccer with Lori and Bailey. Also took Layne, Hannah and Becky with me. Left the horses in today cuz the paddocks are so nasty but they are so good and don't seem to mind as long as they get their food and treats. Sadie did get a little bloody nose today I think she must have bumped her nose, it was dripping a little but we kept a close eye on her and she is just fine.

Everyone is tucked in for the night and I'm going to get a Tropical Smoothie... yummy

READ THE SIGN PEOPLE, hahahah

Poor Sadie.. she is a mud bucket and had a bloody nose...

yummy!!
These are the after dinner treats (peppermints and sour cherry balls)

This is my little piece of heaven on earth!

DAY 11......FRIDAY

LAKE CROSS CREEK
The big thaw of 2011
This morning I got out to the barn, it was really nice..45..but very windy. I got the big girls out into their paddock (that was a complete mud pit), put Mitch and Ruby in the back (which was in good shape) and then the babies... dun, dun, dun.........took Smokey first, there was so much ice underneath the water, I didn't know what to do.. Me and Smoke stood for approx. 5 min. just looking at each other while I tried to decide what to do with the babies.. I knew I just couldn't put them out in that pasture, I would never want to risk someone getting hurt soooo off to the big paddock she went with Mitch and Ruby.. Now last time all 4 were together it was a rodeo so to say the least I was nervous.... Well to make a long story short, all went well, everyone got along, no one got picked on and the most important part everyone was safe. Off to work I went with hay in my sweater and mud on my pants.. hahahah By the time I got back around 4:30 Lori had already gotten there and started stalls... (god bless that women) Gary came a little later and helped us with our lake.. He dug some trenches out to the road, the water was running like someone turned on a firehose.. I'm hoping by tomorrow most of the water will have drained off, it is supposed to get cold again this weekend.. I don't want to have to strap ice skates on the furry beasts..
Chow for now!
It's just a bunch of shit! hahahah
Gary contemplating his next attack..Oh by the way he got shocked by the electric fence in a very sensitive area... way to take one for the team Gar... lolololol

Flowing to the road... so much water!

DAY 10......THURSDAY

Smoke and Stella have a lake in their paddock.... All the snow is starting to melt and create a big huge mess out at the barn.. The water won't hurt them but there is ice underneath, I don't want anyone to break a leg.. ugh! Me and Lori spent the majority of the day digging trenches into the outdoor areana to try and move some of the water..What a mess, poopy, stinky, nasty mess....
Even though it was hardwork and our backs were killing us from digging, we wanted to do what was best for the babies...

Here is Lori working hard in the horse poop... hahahah, digging her trench!

DAY 1......TUESDAY

Howdy Partners

I have decided to journal my barn duty... This is the second year that Niki and Mike have gone to sunny Fl. for 5 weeks and me and my best buddy Lori have been left in charge of all 6 hairy beasts..

My best pal Lori is my kindred spirit: we are crazy, crafty, creative, pumpkin loving, coffee drinking, obssessed with the color orange, candle crazed, primitive pickin, a little neurotic, Tim Horton's best customers, animal loving friend. I couldn't and wouldn't want to take this journey with anyone but her... Thanks, Lor...

Niki and Mike left last night around 11:00 p.m., I miss Eli already!....... The weather plays a huge role in what goes on at the barn, the snow is so deep that the horses are spending the day inside.. Lori and I got out to the barn around 8:30 a.m., with our Tim Hortons (gotta have Tim).... We let the horses out 2 by 2 in the arena to stretch their legs while we clean stalls. The picture above is Ruby helping herself to some hay!

Very good day... I'll be back again to feed them supper!

Gothic Arch

Grunge
This is my first gothic arch tag.. I thought the challenge was kind of hard... Grunge, hmmm what the heck do you do! I put this hard working farm family because there are no harder working people.. Never afraid to get dirty, the children all pitch in, they work from morning to night... I look at this picture and admire the mom and the kids, I suppose they didn't have many material things but they always had their family...

Winter Frost

Make a Moo or Two

This is my second challenge and I'm having so much fun..
When I think of winter I remember being a kid and looking out the window with my face pressed against the cold glass looking out at the snow... My little two Moos are looking thru the glass and the middle guy is out playing in it! Thank you to Lisa Altered Art for the wonderful picture of the children... I hope you like my art work!

This is the first challenge I have ever done!
The theme this week is Alice in Wonderland.
I placed Alice in the tea cup, she is looking out over the
magical forest with glittered mushrooms, tree and butterflies.
I had so so much fun making this little Moo that I'll be back for more.
